This page is a structural draft for solicitor review. It is not final legal advice and must be replaced before launch.
About these guidelines
Version: 0.1 (draft). Last updated: [DATE].
These guidelines are published by EV Tariffs Compared and looked after by the EVTC Editorial team. They set out the rules that apply to reviews of installers.
At present the site does not show review scores or star ratings. If we add reviews, they will follow these guidelines, and we will update our Terms of use and the Installer Agreement before they appear.
What a review is
A review is a driver's account of their own genuine experience with an installer listed on the site. It must relate to a genuine installer interaction, with appropriate evidence.
Sample listings and sample reviews are not evidence of completed work. Sample reviews are not counted in any rating.
How reviews are checked
The EVTC Editorial team checks that a review is supported by evidence of a genuine installer interaction before it is shown.
What is not allowed
Installers must not submit, ask others to submit or pay for fake reviews, or reviews that hide that the reviewer was rewarded. The same applies to anyone else. In particular, these are not allowed on the site:
- fake reviews, whether positive or negative, meaning a review that says it is based on a person's genuine experience when it is not;
- reviews that hide the fact that the reviewer was rewarded or given an incentive.
We do not accept payment to show information we know is false or misleading, and we do not publish reviews or ratings that are paid for without saying so.
These rules follow UK consumer law on fake reviews and reviews that hide an incentive (the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024).
Reporting a review
If you think a review is fake, hides a reward or is otherwise wrong, email hello@evtariffscompared.com. Please give the installer's name, the page address and your reason. The EVTC Editorial team will look at it, and will remove a review that breaks these guidelines.
If an installer is involved, we may also take action under section 8 of the Installer Agreement.
If you are unhappy with how we handled a report, see our Complaints page.
