About this statement
Version: 0.1 (draft). Last updated: [DATE].
This is the accessibility statement for evtariffscompared.com. The site is run by [COMPANY NAME], company number [COMPANY NUMBER], registered office [REGISTERED ADDRESS] ("EV Tariffs Compared", "we", "us").
This statement covers the public pages of the site (tariff comparison, home charger comparison, the installer directory and quote requests, the grants checker, guides and information pages) and the installer account area.
Our aim
We want as many people as possible to be able to use the site. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
We have not yet completed a full assessment against WCAG 2.2 AA, so we do not say that the site meets that standard.
What is in place
The public pages and the installer account area have:
- a "Skip to main content" link and a single main landmark;
- form fields with labels, visible keyboard focus and standard keyboard controls;
- a labelled number field as an alternative to each charging slider;
- Night, Day and Auto themes;
- stronger borders on controls, and less non-essential motion when your device asks for it.
Installer results can be read as a text list as well as on the map.
How we test
We run automated checks (axe-core) as part of our code tests on representative public and account pages. Serious and critical findings fail the checks. Automated checks find only part of the accessibility problems and do not show that a page meets WCAG.
We plan further manual testing: keyboard-only use, the NVDA screen reader with Firefox, VoiceOver with Safari, zoom and reflow, and a range of devices and browsers. This is not yet complete.
Known limitations
- Maps use OpenFreeMap tiles through MapLibre. The map controls, and use of the map with a keyboard and assistive technology, still need testing. The installer list is available without the map.
- Automated checks cannot assess every colour contrast, every screen reader announcement or the focus order on every screen that changes. These still need to be checked by people.
- Payments are taken by Stripe, so the payment pages are theirs and not ours.
